Havana Slide Show

Old Havana is a city of contrasts: beautiful colonial buildings in a deplorable state of decay, streets filled with people, bike taxis and old cars. Many people are now unemployed, having lost government jobs, and are having to develop entreprenurial skills in order to survive. Others just pass the time, waiting for the prosperity promised by Fidel many years ago. But Havana remains a city of colour and charm, in spite of the difficulties. This series of photographs shows the reality of living in Havana in the 2010s.

Mary's photograhs of Havana were shown in a solo exhibit in April 2014 at the Heliconian Club, 35 Hazelton Av, Toronto.
